about my work

My landscape paintings are a response to place. They are not specific locations.

I like to bring attention to the illusion of painting and the painting process.

I have an art history background and I draw on that foundation. Cezanne, Matisse, and Diebenkorn are influences on my work.

I’m suspicious of universalized and philosophical discussions of beauty. However, I don’t believe beauty is dead. I believe viewers bring beauty to the work, that beauty comes out of a relationship between the viewer and the artwork.
